The Positive Sleep Effects of Using CBD Oils

While there are still a plethora of studies and tests going on to discover the health benefits of using CBD, one of the most studied is its effect on sleep habits. According to a study done of people 18 and older in Canada, up to 40% of adults suffer from some form of insomnia. This is a massive percentage of the population, and it is because of the prevalence of insomnia within adults that sleep medications and remedies are studied so frequently.

One of the most promising new treatments for insomnia is CBD. CBD, otherwise known as Cannabidiol, is a non-psychoactive derivative of the cannabis plant. CBD has been found to have numerous health benefits, one of which is aiding in sleep duration.

CBD and Cortisol Levels

One of the main causes of sleep issues and insomnia comes from spiking cortisol levels during the night. For most people, cortisol spikes in the morning, but for those with insomnia it will spike overnight, causing problems with falling asleep. In recent studies, it has been found that taking CBD oils or edibles before bedtime can reduce cortisol levels overnight, leading to a deeper, longer sleep.

Additional Health Benefits of CBD

In addition to helping with sleep patterns, CBD has been found to have a plethora of other health benefits. These include pain relief, anxiety & depression treatment, and use as an anti-inflammatory. These health benefits of CBD could play a factor in its use as a sleep aid, as generally pain, anxiety, and inflammation can be causes of, or at least play a role in, sleep issues like insomnia.

CBD is currently one of the most studied medical substances right now, and scientists are continuously finding new uses for it. One quality that makes CBD so important for medical treatments is that it is a completely natural substance, and so far, there have not been substantial, wide-spread side effects from prolonged usage. This makes CBD an optimal solution for most people who suffer from poor sleep patterns and insomnia. It allows them to steer away from pharmaceuticals and choose a more natural remedy to help correct their insomnia and sleep issues.
